230669. Katherine (Catherine) Radcliffe

Katherine Radcliffe

B abt 1450-1475  |  Henbury, Cheshire, England

D aft 1525  |  England

M abt 1496  |  England

The birthdate and parentage of Katherine is circumspect. Many trees show her as being the daughter of Sir Alexander Radcliffe, born in 1436. However, the Katherine of my lineage married Thomas Davenport in 1496. Thomas was born in 1470 so this line would have Katherine 60 years of age at her marriage and having 3 children in her early 60's. It is much more likely that she is the daughter of John Radcliffe, son of William Radcliffe, son of Sir Alexander Radcliffe.

Regarding the Birth Date of Katherine

Sir James Harington was born circa 1448 at of Old Hall, Lancashire, Wolfage & Brixworth, Northamptonshire, England; Age 40 in 1488. He married Isabella Radcliffe, daughter of Sir Alexander Radcliffe and Agnes Harington, between 14 September 1459 and 1465. Sir James Harington died on 26 June 1497. His estate was probated on 6 March 1498. Many records have the birthdate for Katherine at 1436 which would have her 61 years of age at the birth of her son Thomas Davenport and approximately 12 years older than her husband. Not likely.
