It appears that initially, Alfred's name was listed as Alpha Johanson, but it was American-ized to Alfred Johnson. In 1920 Census, Alfred and family are intact, prior to the death of Minnie Fae. In 1925 Census, he is married to Gladys with additional step-children, and then again, in the 1930 Census, Melvin was living with his father and stepmom, Allie. Evelyn had gone to live with Gus (Augusta Schlumbohm) in Atlantic. Alpha had tuberculosis throughout the later years of his life, eventually passing away at a TB Center in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
